I got a message on etsy a week ago. I was asked if I could possibly make a caftan, but make it bat like. Well I happen to be doing some major traveling and my biggest concern was getting it to them on time for their weekend Halloween adventures. However, after some chatting. We figured out that it would still be in time for other parties and so the Bat tan was imagined.
I got some lovely less wrinkly poly-cotton and set to work, freehanding the pattern a bit to make the perfect bat-tan.
Here it is with its “arms” out, with the help of two wooden blocks on my mannequin. Here is a link to get your own.
I had to add in some side stitches to make the wings stay together a bit more, as I noticed the structure and airiness of a caftan makes it difficult to see the wing illusions. With those minor adjustments and some top stitching, it came out so fun!! Get your own here!
