Lately the thought of putting on something fancy has been far from my mind. I know so many of us do not get to go out the way we used to and we have been inside more often then not. Pj’s have been a great friend. I have been looking for a way to make my pj’s and loungewear feel a bit nicer.
In comes, the 40’s beach wear, loungwear sets or sometimes called beach pajamas. Yes! They wore “pajamas” to the beach. These airy garments were high waisted with wide leg pants. Often they were made of two garments, a top that was sometimes a tie or crop top, and a palazzo style pant.
Sometimes they would make these as a full romper, or jumpsuit. I do love a good jumpsuit but I don’t love the challenge of having to use the restroom (I am sure many people have felt this pain of sitting in the bathroom almost completely naked or naked since the top is attached).
Not saying I wouldn’t wear a romper, in fact I have a few I love and currently make here. But for women’s loungewear sets, I truly want to lounge and feel like I am easing into some lovely pajamas.
I have been following the streetwear trends and notice that there are a lot of sweatpants and cozy items. Of course I love to be cozy, but I also love having a vintage twist.
Its time to make a change….
So, I decided to design my own pants and tie top. Using some gorgeous fabric I picked up directly from a visit to Maui. I created a high waisted pant with a decorative waist band.
I also want to have a top that would be a crop top style but still support larger breast sizes. I have found that often the crop tops of the past do not leave enough to the imagination if you know what I mean? Thus I made a tie top that has various sizes and the ability to tie down the problem area.
But what to do with extra fabric??
Make a turban headband!! I hate waisted fabric and thought it would be fabulous to finish the look with a 40s inspired headband. This headband is made with elastic to be sure to fit any head size.
Alright it is your turn! Time to try some lounge wear pajamas and go out….or just stay inside!
